Increase Niles Tarbox

The name Tarbox Custom Cutlery originates from the historic house where the shop is currently located.

The Rev. Increase Niles Tarbox (1815-1888) was a 19th century American theologian and author. In 1844, at age twenty-nine, Tarbox became the pastor at the Plymouth Congregational Church in Framingham, Massachusetts. He was also involved in education and literacy efforts, serving on the School Committee and as a Trustee of the Public Library.

Tarbox penned multiple books for children. His titles included The Story of Our Darling Nellie, the three volume Winne and Walter, When I was a Boy, and the four-volume Uncle George Stories.
